Get that Bridal Glow

I have been in the cosmetic industry for over a decade, so I have seen my fair share of newly engaged brides as they embark on their skincare routine and treatment journey that will get their skin not just looking its best, but full on bridal ready !

Being a 2024 bride, it’s super exciting to be about to take the recommendations I have put in place for others for myself as I get ready for my own wedding day this coming May.

Skincare should be a daily occurrence for all, but when you are in the lead up to your wedding, it’s time to kick it up a gear or two. This not only ensures that your photographer really gets those amazing shots of you and your new husband, but that make up sits flawlessly through the whole day, you can feel confident and overall you can exude that bridal glow.

At Cosmedica we only carry ZO and there is a huge reason for that. Not only do they have a plethora of options and treatment creams, kits, lotions and potions, but they have the science to back their claims. As a nurse, the science and logic behind why something works is important to me when I invest in options for my skin, while seeing results as quickly as 1-2 weeks in is required for me to want to continue and be diligent with my routine. ZO has kept my skin healthy for the last 4 years and I love my routine, so kicking it up a notch to get that bridal glow is going to be seamless ! So without further ado… here are all the skincare recommendations !

I like to break my skincare down into stages; the basics, the anti agers, the treatments and sun protection.

The Basics:

The basic’s is simple. Wash your skin with a great cleanser and tone to further clean and brighten. Finish off with a moisturizer; one with vitamin c and e in it works well to help really hydrate and aid in keeping your skin healthy.

To take this basic step to the next level, add in an exfoliator - 3x a week is perfectly sufficient.

The ZO skin health daily skincare kit is amazing - it has all these steps in it!

The anti-ager’s:

An antiaging product is a product that will aid in reducing fine lines and wrinkles while reinforcing the skin’s protective barrier. There is only one product that you need… Growth Factor Serum! The anti-aging cream for all anti-aging creams!

The Treatment Creams:

Treatment creams are what I feel provide a result in terms of addressing aging, sun damage or tone of the skin. A great treatment cream is Retinol! People get wary of retinol - especially brides ! - but I promise if you use a retinol product properly, you will fall in love.. Again! Retinol helps to even out skin tone, minimize pigmentation and provide a stronger and healthier skin barrier.

If you want to get that bridal glow, add in a product like the Brightalive Skin Brightener for extra luminosity, hydration and fade any additional sun damage.

Sun protection:

Always finish off with an SPF - I really like the one by Colourscience; its ability to provide sheer coverage while aiding in a glowy complexion while protecting my skin from sun exposure means this product ticks all the boxes for me and will be what I use in the lead up to May!

When to start this more intense routine?

I advise everyone to get on a great skincare routine even if they are not engaged. But the earlier the better. I ramped up my skincare in the final 6 months before my wedding while completing a few treatment options in the clinic too. Want to know what treatments I am doing? Stay tuned for the next blog post and part two of the bridal diaries.
