Double Chin/ Localized Fat Injections via Deoxycholic Acid Injections

As “selfies”, social media, and Zoom calls become more pervasive, so are many of our aesthetic concerns. To treat this submental fat area we have a few excellent options such as nonsurgical BELKYRA® treatments. At your consultation in Burlington, we will assess the treatment zone and discuss the best method to treat your localized fat cells. Medi spa treatment therapies include either tiny injections to dissolve the fat or a CoolSculpting® machine to program fat cell death. Sometimes a combination of both is required to get rid of the unwanted fat. The good news is that both treatment results are permanent! The cost for Belkyra is as high as $2,400 and as low as $1,000 for treatment. Pricing depends on how many treatments are required and can be determined at the time of your consultation.

BELKYRA uses an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid to break down and dissolve treated fat. The safety of deoxycholic acid has been well established. In fact, it’s manufactured naturally by the liver to help us digest the fats we eat. When administered to unwanted fat for cosmetic purposes, the active ingredient goes to work by breaking down the fat and allowing it to be naturally filtered out of the body.
CoolSculpting is also used to help contour the unwanted submental fullness in our chin area. If a patient has a moderate amount of fat to break down we may start with CoolSculpting® to slim down the area first and then tailor further results with some deoxycholic acid injections. This is the most cost-effective option to elicit excellent, beautiful results. It also minimizes the amount of downtime required.

What to Expect
Your appointment begins with a thorough assessment and discussion of your expectations.
If you will start with deoxycholic acid injections, we will apply a grid pattern on the treatment area to guide the desired injection sites. Each injection lasts for only a moment, and the entire appointment typically lasts less than 1 hour. After your appointment, you’re free to pick up your day where you left off. You can safely head back to work, home, or even the gym.
We embrace swelling post treatment as this indicates the injections are working as they are supposed to. Usually swelling will last 1 week to 1 month. So take out those beautiful turtle necks and scarfs! The fall and winter season is a perfect time to have this treatment! You may also experience some redness, tenderness, or bruising, but these symptoms typically go away on their own within a few days.
For the best results, we recommend a minimum of 2 treatments spaced 8 weeks apart. Results gradually appear during the weeks and months following treatment. And the best news is, the results are permanent!
If CoolSculpting® was recommended in combination with deoxycholic acid injections then you will enter our famous Coolsculpting room. We have two machines running all the time with patients’ fat sculpting their whole body! Results achieved by this technology are also permanent. The chin handpiece is square and holds the CoolSculpting arm to your chin area to ensure proper suction and placement. Once the machine is turned on you will feel a cold suction on the treatment area. The machine is set and takes under 1 hour to complete. Once you have adjusted to the initial cold sensation you feel nothing! It is relaxing and many patients even fall asleep. Feel free to enjoy watching a favourite video on the large TV screen return emails or attend to work affairs on your favourite device. This is the perfect multi-tasking treatment. Once the bell rings your nurse will remove your handpiece and give the skin a gentle massage to help break down the frozen fat cells. In 1 month you will begin to see the permanent change in your jawline, and you will be thrilled!
