Pregnancy or excess weight can really stretch the abdominal skin and muscles. And while you’re surely proud of your children or your weight loss achievement, the distressing state of your midsection keeps you from enjoying them to the fullest. Others may tell you “don’t worry about it,” but it’s hard not to. Every time you see or feel that “extra” tummy spilling out of your jeans, you are reminded. Knowing that sit-ups, crunches, and dieting don’t help only adds to your frustration. You could spend years in therapy coming to terms with the problem, or you can fix it and enjoy your body. Dr. Otto Weiglein has helped more than 3,000 patients have slimmer, flatter abdomens through tummy tuck surgery in Burlington. People from Brantford, Hamilton, Oakville, and across southern Ontario visit him for the support they need and results that exceed their expectations.

Because of the changes associated with pregnancy, tummy tuck patients are usually women. Men are candidates if they have large amounts of excess skin associated with significant weight loss.

Surgery is performed in Dr. Weiglein’s private, fully accredited College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario OHP-IP inspected, on-site surgical clinic using only certified FRCPS(C) anaesthesia providers for optimal safety and comfort. This outpatient surgery takes about 2 ½ hours — longer when it is combined with other procedures such as breast lift or breast augmentation. These “mommy makeover” procedures are common among women who want to reverse the effects of pregnancy, as is vaginal laser therapy using diVa™ laser treatments.
During the surgery, Dr. Weiglein removes excess skin and fat and tightens lax, separated abdominal muscles. He often uses liposuction to remove fat deposits from the hips and waist for a complete renewal.
Recovery from a tummy tuck is usually more involved than for other cosmetic procedures simply because it is a more extensive procedure. But take heart in knowing that our patients consistently tell us that the extra recovery time is well worth the enhanced self-esteem, comfort, and wardrobe choices they gain.
