Meet Dr. WeigleinDr. Weiglein only performs this procedure on adults usually using local anaesthetic and oral sedation.
Ear pinning is usually a straightforward procedure that pays back large emotional dividends. It requires a well-hidden incision in the skin behind the ear. The cartilage is reshaped and pulled back closer to the head and secured in the new position with sutures. A ski band type bandage or headband is used to gently hold the ears in position while they heal. This dressing can be removed during the day but must be worn at night to prevent inadvertent folding of the ears, usually for about a week.
If more extensive correction is needed, Dr. Weiglein will discuss your options for reshaping cartilage or repairing deformities.
