Brow Lift

Your forehead, or brow, represents one third of your face and is involved in almost every facial expression you make: frowning, laughing, showing surprise or anger. A lifetime of expression, combined with sun exposure and gravity, eventually produces deep horizontal and vertical forehead lines and a brow that descends onto the upper eyelid region. The cosmetic result is sometimes an unintended expression of anger, tension or fatigue.

Dr. Otto Weiglein can help you to look as happy and youthful as you feel with a brow lift. Women and men from Burlington, Hamilton, London and other Ontario cities come to him because he understands that subtle changes in your brow can make a big change in how you interact with others and how you feel about yourself.

Lifting and Smoothing Your Brow

A modern brow lift goes more than skin deep; it addresses the underlying tissues as well, creating a more natural, longer-lasting result. By altering some of the underlying muscles, the brow (forehead) lift can even keep some of those frown lines from coming back, similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, but with long lasting results.

A brow lift also elevates drooping eyebrows – the reason people think you look stern, tired or unhappy. When the brow is elevated, the permanent frown softens and the entire face brightens up.

You may benefit from a brow lift if you have:

  • Drooping skin under the brows and crowding of the upper lids
  • Deep forehead furrows and frown lines
  • Low or “heavy” eyebrows

"A brow lift is an excellent way to 'wake up' the area around the eyes."

What to Expect

The incision for a brow lift is hidden just behind the hairline across the top of the head. Dr. Weiglein loosens the underlying tissue of the forehead to just above the eyebrows. The frown muscles are identified and weakened if necessary to reduce the frowning or scowling appearance. The tissues are then lifted and repositioned for ideal brow position and forehead smoothness. The tissues are secured in place with the use of 2 invisible Endotine® devices which hold the forehead in place while it is healing and then gradually dissolve. This reduces tension on the incision site and allows for better healing.

Sutures are generally removed within 1 week, and any swelling and bruising that occurs should subside within a few weeks. Women will be allowed to use eye makeup approximately 2 weeks after surgery, and normal daily activities can be resumed within 1 to 2 weeks.
