Chemical & Laser Peels
Therapeutic medical-grade chemical and laser peels invigorate dull skin by repairing damage from sun exposure, aging, acne, and other conditions. At Cosmedica, Dr. Otto Weiglein and our staff customize chemical and laser peels for patients from Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, and beyond. Our skin care menu includes several medical peel options as well as laser peels that help correct damaged skin and restore a healthier glow.
Revealing a Healthy Glow
Chemical peels can be tailored to different intensity levels that produce more or less dramatic results and require different amounts of downtime. The Level 1 and Level 2 ZO chemical peels are meticulously regimented skin treatments that address a variety of skin conditions using a customized chemical mixture. Patients with the following concerns can benefit from these peels:
- Acne scarring
- Age spots
- Pre-cancerous conditions such as keratoses (thick, rough, reddish growths)
We also recommend establishing an at-home skin care regimen using our line of ZO® skin care products to maintain the results of your chemical peels. In some cases, patients may benefit better from other skin care treatments such as Broadband Light (BBL) or laser skin resurfacing. Dr. Weiglein can evaluate your skin and create a plan tailored to your needs.
For the best results, we often recommend a series of treatments appropriate for your skin type and the amount of downtime that fits into your schedule. The ZO Skin Health peels from Dr. Zein Obagi are proven to yield excellent results that:
- Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- Stimulate collagen growth
- Slough off dead skin cells
- Hydrate your skin
- Lighten pigmentation
- Treat blemishes, including adult acne

Level 1 ZO Skin Health Peel
After a gentle cleanse and mechanical exfoliation, we apply a gentle papaya and pineapple enzyme peel in a strength calibrated for your skin type and the conditions we want to target. This Level 1 peel accelerates the skin’s process of sloughing off dead skin cells, which takes increasingly longer as we age. That’s why older skin is rougher and duller. The peel is gentle enough so you won’t have any redness or irritation and can resume your normal daily activities immediately after the treatment.
Level 2 ZO Skin Health Peel
This advanced treatment combines the Level 1 peel with 2 additional steps. The first extra step is application of a “stimulator peel” that is left on the skin for a couple of minutes, exfoliating deeper layers of the skin. This is followed by a relaxing and nourishing mask to calm the skin for about 10 minutes.
You will notice dead skin cells sloughing off about 3 days after your treatment, revealing soft, supple, and glowing skin. Home skin care products can help manage the appearance and duration of your peeling skin. We offer a magnesium crystal polish that will prepare your skin for an even application of makeup.
Our Laser Peels
Dr. Weiglein may recommend a laser peel for some patients after examining their skin and listening to their cosmetic goals. Some patients prefer the idea of using light energy instead of chemical solutions. We offer advanced laser peels that can be customized to accurately target a specific depth in the skin.
A MicroLaserPeel improves the skin’s texture by removing a thin layer of damaged skin. The precision with which our skin technicians operate the laser results in the elimination of damaged and dead skin cells. This is the skin that can make you look tired and older than you are. As with other skin resurfacing treatments, the skin’s natural healing process promotes the growth of fresh cells.
Skin conditions that are effectively treated by the MicroLaserPeel include:
- Mild wrinkling
- Sun damage
- Irregular pigmentation
The most popular treatment areas are the face and neck, but MicroLaserPeel treatments can also be used to improve the appearance of the hands and chest. You’ll notice results after a single treatment, but additional treatments may be needed depending on the condition of your skin and your personal aesthetic goals.
Because chemical peels and microdermabrasion often don’t penetrate deep enough to repair all damaged skin, a NanoLaserPeel can be an appropriate treatment for some patients. The benefits of this treatment include:
- Efficiency: Laser treatments such as the NanoLaserPeel can be completed in a fraction of the time needed to perform a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. Most treatments take 10 minutes or less.
- Little downtime: Most patients need only a day or 2 before to let their skin heal. That means you can make a Friday appointment and return to work Monday.
- Excellent results: Rough, damaged skin feels softer following treatment.
How Much Do Laser Peels Cost?
We offer package pricing for both of our laser peel devices. NanoLaserPeel treatments are priced at $350 each, and a 3-treatment package price is $800, which saves patients $250. The more powerful MicroLaserPeel costs $500 per session. We offer a package of 3 sessions for $1,200–a savings of $300.
