Broadband Light (BBL)
Broadband light (BBL) treatments are an effective and simple solution for a variety of cosmetic skin conditions, including sun spots, discoloration, acne and acne scars, rosacea, and even fine wrinkles. At Cosmedica, the sophisticated, light-based technology used in BBL helps our Burlington, Hamilton, and Oakville patients refresh their complexions and regain their confidence without surgery. Dr. Otto Weiglein and our team are highly trained to perform these nonsurgical treatments and produce impressive results.
Am I a Good Candidate for BBL?
At our Burlington centre, broadband light skincare treatments have produced dramatic results noticeable after only a single session. BBL is a safe procedure with minimal downtime for women and men interested in:
- Reducing facial redness and rosacea
- Diminishing brown pigmentation and age spots
- Improving skin texture
- Correcting acne scars
- Smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles
What Is BBL?
BBL is a light-based procedure that uses dual-lamp technology, each operating on a customizable wavelength, to fade the look of many different skin conditions. At Cosmedica, we use the Sciton® BBL device, which features customizable adapters to help us treat skin evenly, as well as thermoelectric cooling to keep the outermost layers of your skin cool and comfortable throughout your entire treatment.

Dr. Weiglein is a Royal College-certified plastic surgeon who blends his refined surgical talents with a deep appreciation for the human form and spirit to give you a personalized, rewarding cosmetic experience.Meet Dr. Weiglein
At Cosmedica, we customize BBL treatments to fit the specific needs of each patient, from wrinkles to acne to discoloration. It’s important to understand that each BBL treatment differs, and its effectiveness depends in part on the intensity settings of the machine and the provider’s experience. Dr. Weiglein and his hand-picked team of technicians have an exceptional amount of experience with Cosmedica’s state-of-the-art BBL technology.
Some patients may be better served by an “ablative” procedure such as laser skin resurfacing, which removes damaged layers of surface skin. Dr. Weiglein can recommend which skin treatment is best for your needs, and he can also recommend other enhancements to complete your rejuvenation, such as injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
What to Expect
BBL treatments take about a half-hour. Although it’s possible to see significant results after the first session, we usually recommend up to 4 treatments to achieve an optimal outcome, depending on the problem we are targeting. Downtime is minimal, although some redness of the treated areas may last 24 hours.Back to Top
