What is more frustrating than feeling perfectly happy and rested and being repeatedly asked, “Are you tired?” or told that you look like you’re in a bad mood? You might be sending the wrong signal to others without even knowing it. Forehead and frown lines send a negative message – one that says “I’m grumpy.” BOTOX Cosmetic treatments are a simple solution for Hamilton, Oakville, and other Ontario residents. Dr. Otto Weiglein and his Cosmedica team offer a simple, innovative approach to reversing the appearance of facial wrinkles with BOTOX treatments at the Burlington nonsurgical centre.
"Do people say you look angry?"
Good Candidates for BOTOX
BOTOX is well-known for its success with smoothing out forehead wrinkles and lines around the eyes. You’re a good candidate for BOTOX if you’re concerned about looking tired or angry, even when you’re not. It is also effective for women and men in their 20s and early 30s who are seeing early signs of aging. Because BOTOX works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that create dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, treatment as a young adult can delay the formation of those lines.
Restoring the Eye Area
BOTOX is a great option for those who want to restore a calmer, more rested appearance to the eye area. It safely and effectively smoothes away the lines that are caused when we repeatedly make facial expressions, called “dynamic” wrinkles. We often use BOTOX for:
- Softening crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes
- Diminishing vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
- Relaxing horizontal forehead furrows sometimes called worry lines

How It Works
BOTOX Cosmetic has been approved for cosmetic use in Canada since 2001. When injected into tiny facial muscles, it softens wrinkles by temporarily preventing the muscles from contracting. This process is called cosmetic denervation. Without the repeated muscle contractions, the overlying skin is able to gradually smooth out.

What to Expect
BOTOX treatments require no anaesthesia because there is very little discomfort involved. We know our patients’ time is valuable; our BOTOX patients appreciate that their appointments are efficient without being rushed. Here’s what you can expect when you schedule a BOTOX appointment at Cosmedica:
- Injections take about 10 to 15 minutes.
- BOTOX works gradually, taking up to 14 days to see results.
- Patients often schedule 3 to 4 appointments during the year to maintain the results.
Research suggests that consistent use of BOTOX can cause the effects to last longer. BOTOX treats wrinkles and other expression lines; it is not meant to tighten the skin that begins to lose its elasticity as we age.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do BOTOX Cosmetic injections cost?
Like other practices, we price BOTOX by the unit here at Cosmedica. We charge $11 per unit for BOTOX until the 30-unit mark. If a patient requires more than 30 units of BOTOX during a visit, the price goes down to $10 per unit. It diminishes again at the 60-unit mark. If a patient requires more than 60 units during a visit, we charge $9 per unit. A customized treatment plan will be created for you, during your consultation, according to your needs and budget.
Will my face look expressionless or frozen after treatment with BOTOX?
No. We perform BOTOX treatments to erase the lines and creases that give others the wrong impression while allowing the expressions that are a natural part of your personality to shine through. We take a conservative approach, and our practitioners have a wealth of experience producing beautiful, natural-looking results.
What’s the difference between BOTOX and dermal fillers?
BOTOX and dermal fillers are both safe, simple injectable treatments that effectively soften wrinkles; however, they work in different ways. Dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® replace lost volume under the skin to smooth out wrinkles from below immediately. As their name implies, these products essentially fill in wrinkles. BOTOX treats wrinkles by stopping contractions of the muscles that create them, enabling the overlying skin to gradually smooth out.
Can BOTOX and dermal fillers be used together?
Yes. It is safe to use BOTOX in combination with injectable fillers. Because these wrinkle treatments work in different ways, it is often beneficial to have them performed together to address multiple signs of aging at once. Fillers can restore lost volume to sunken or sagging cheeks and fill in folds around the mouth. BOTOX can smooth out lines on the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes. Together, these complementary treatments may give you an even fresher, more rested appearance than when used on their own.
Will I need to take time out for recovery after my BOTOX treatment?
One of the many advantages of BOTOX treatments is that you can return to work and other daily activities right afterward. For the first few hours after treatment, we recommend that you refrain from strenuous exercise, avoid putting pressure on treated areas, and keep your head elevated.
How long do BOTOX treatments last?
The improvements from BOTOX treatments last about 3 to 4 months, after which the lines and wrinkles will gradually return. You can maintain your refreshed look by visiting Cosmedica for regular maintenance treatments.
How do I get started?
Request a consultation using our online form or call us today at (905) 631-6288 to set up your consultation. If you’re a good candidate for BOTOX, you may be able to have your treatment during your initial visit.
Can BOTOX be combined with other procedures?
Yes, at Cosmedica we can create a customized treatment plan designed to address your specific skin concerns. For example, Dr. Weiglein may recommend laser skin resurfacing alongside injections of BOTOX and dermal fillers. A customized chemical or laser peel can also complement your BOTOX treatment.
Do many men get BOTOX?
BOTOX has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures among men. Its popularity has even spawned a name: “Brotox.” Men are increasingly coming to Cosmedica for BOTOX, fillers, and other nonsurgical treatments. Social media has helped normalize it, as sharing photos of yourself on professional and social sites has become commonplace. More and more men are choosing to get aesthetic treatments than in the past.
