Is it belly fat or diastasis recti?

Diastasis recti is the separation of the abdominal muscles and very often occurs in the last trimester of a pregnancy. The increased pressure, weight and tension causes the abdominal muscles to stretch and separate. Throughout your consultation the doctor and nurse can assess your abdominal region and diagnosis the cause of your “pouch”. In this blog post you will find out different treatment alternatives for your abdomen area.
In the case of diastasis recti, a surgical tummy tuck procedure repairs this separation and gets rid of any excess hanging fat. If your “pooch” is only belly fat then our nonsurgical treatment options are a perfect solution.
Coolsculpting is our breakthrough nonsurgical fat treatment that uses a process called cryolipolysis to literally freeze fat cells allowing your body to naturally flush them away while leaving the surrounding cells unharmed.
What to expect?

When you come into our office, we will assess you and customize a treatment plan according to your specific needs. On treatment day we will attach the cooling handpiece to the treatment zone. The panels on the handpiece deliver an intense blast of cold to the undesired fat cells. After only a few minutes you will quickly acclimate to the sensation and not feel any cold or discomfort. Treatments usually last around an hour per treatment area. Many patients use the time to catch up on work or simply relax.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
In the weeks following the procedure the frozen cells break down and are processed by the body. Results are usually visible within 3 weeks and will become more dramatic over the course of 2 to 4 months. Results are permanent. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will allow you to reap the benefits for years!

What about if I have loose skin?
Sometimes during our consultation we see that patients don’t have enough fat to treat but are bothered by their loose skin. We have a revolutionary skin tightening machine called ‘ulthera’ which delivers focused ultrasound energy to tighten and firm the skin. This energy initiates the body’s natural response to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen and strengthen weak collagen.
Combination therapy is also very popular. Patients can first treat the region with Coolsculpting for fat and follow it up with a treatment of ulthera for skin tightening.
When can I see the results after an ulthera skin tightening treatment?

Some patients see an initial effect right after treatment but the real results appear over 3 – 6 months as new collagen builds, gradually lifting and tightening skin on the face & neck and smoothing skin on the chest.
