When it comes to nonsurgical body contouring, more options exist today than ever before. CoolSculpting, available at our Burlington plastic surgery practice, is one of the most popular treatments in the world, not only for its convenience but for its versatility in treating many different areas of the body effectively. It’s designed to reduce the stubborn pockets of fat many people struggle to reduce through diet and exercise alone—areas so common they’ve earned their own nicknames.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss a few of the most popular CoolSculpting treatment areas and the terms you may know them by. We’ll also discuss how the device reduces those trouble spots to create attractive, long-lasting results.

Which Areas Does CoolSculpting Treat?

You may have heard that CoolSculpting freezes away fat on the abdomen, legs, and arms. This is true, but it doesn’t reduce fat widely across these areas the way you expect with weight loss. The treatment actually works best when targeting localized pockets of fat within these areas. A few of the most well-known include:

  • Love handles: These pockets of fat accumulate on the sides of your waistline and can cause wanted lumps and bumps, especially in tight-fitting clothing.
  • Muffin top: A notoriously difficult area to tone through exercise alone, this roll of fat forms on the lower abdomen and gets its name from the way it hangs over the waistline of your pants.
  • Banana roll: This is the banana-shaped roll of fat found at the top of your thighs, directly under your buttocks. Reducing this roll creates the double effect of both slimmer thighs and a more defined backside.
  • Saddlebags: These pouches build up on the outsides of your thighs and widen your silhouette, especially from a front-facing view.

CoolSculpting effectively treats many areas that don’t have trendy nicknames, as well. During your initial consultation, we’ll talk over your concerns to determine whether CoolSculpting can help or whether you’d benefit more from a different body contouring approach, such as liposuction. How Does CoolSculpting Reduce Fat Without Surgery?

CoolSculpting works through a process called cryolipolysis, or “fat freezing.” It drops targeted fat cells to a low enough temperature that they die off. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than other body tissues, your skin, muscles, and so on won’t be harmed. Once the fat cells die, your body naturally metabolizes and flushes them out over the next 1 to 3 months, leaving behind a shapelier silhouette.

Can I Treat Multiple Trouble Spots With CoolSculpting?

Yes, you can benefit from CoolSculpting even if you’re looking to target multiple different spots. While we only treat a single area per session, CoolSculpting is nonsurgical and low risk, so you can undergo as many sessions as you need to see your best results. You can also opt for multiple treatments in the same area if you’re looking for more dramatic fat reduction.
