Sagging and flabbiness of the upper arm is a common concern particularly following weight loss or simply the result of aging skin.

Arm Reduction procedures can improve the appearance of this area by removing excess skin and fat. This is done in a way similar to a Thigh Reduction, and is a procedure for individuals with very large quantities of excess arm skin and fat.

It is not a procedure for those with minimal to moderate skin excess.

Arm Reduction Surgery is beneficial if you have:

  • very large quantities of loose upper arm skin
  • large quantities of fat and loose upper arm skin
  • concerns that outweigh the consequences of a scar

Procedure

The area from the elbow to the underarm is opened to remove excess skin and fat. Liposuction of the upper arm is only useful in younger patients with very good skin and relatively small amounts of fat. The skin in this area is very thin and shrinks poorly. Liposuction without surgical removal of excess skin will make the area worse in appearance. It leaves a scar extending from the elbow to the underarm.
